Betsukai Pilot Marathon

Date: October 3rd.
Deadline: August 31st

"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running."

I finished the Betsukai Pilot marathon on Sunday. The weather was cloudy and cool and just perfect for a fast marathon. There were 1200 people in the race with Salmon for the first 1000 finishers. We took home a salmon! Former Olympian(?) Asai Eriko was there as always. We also got two packages of Betsukai Butter. Very delicious. There is always ice cream at the opening ceremony the day before but we didn't attend this year. It was too much trouble with the kids last year. Once again and wonderful event.

Limited information is included in the calendar entries. For more information, leave a comment. I try to post the deadlines for the races. The place where the race is held is also included. You can see where it is by clicking on the map link.
