Tokachi Healthy Marathon comes to and end.

After finishing it's 29th meet, the annual Tokachi Healthy (kenko) Marathon has come to an end! There will be no more. At least that is what a postcard that came in the mail from the organizers said the other day. After losing the Toyokoro Salmon Marathon two years ago, there are now now large foot races left in Tokachi! I'm not sure if you can consider Urakawa part of Tokachi, but it is the only race over 10k left near by.This is so sad. Hopefully the race in Honbetsu will gain momentum.

Other: Printed record of your time, photos sent to you in the mail, milieage markers, water and sports drinks every 5km, nurse on hand. There is a spa (onsen) just a few 100 meters from the finish at the Furusato Koen Event Hiroba. You get a ticket to use the spa.

This is a run up Mt. Pinneshiri. It is 22.5km to the top. You run to the very top and then turn around and run back. From the top you can see all the mountains and valleys below. It is a beautiful site. They take your picture at the top. The staff is very friendly.

Run from Biei Shirogane Spa (onsen) to Maruyama Sports and Track and Field Park.
Lots of people cheering you on. The children really help with their cheers on the steep hill. Run down from the spa on a road lined with white birch. Beautiful. Lots of food stalls at the goal and plenty of space in the sports park to relax after the event. Biei itself is surrounded by rolling hills and is a beautiful area.
